Flying time to Paris is 75 minutes from London, 7½ hours from New York, 8 hours and 20 minutes from Chicago, and 11 hours from Los Angeles. A direct flight from New York to Nice is 8 hours. Scheduled flying time between Paris to either Marseille or Nice is approximately 1½ hours. Given the possibility of strikes in France, it's a good idea to confirm your flight online the day before.

Airports

The major gateways to France are Paris's Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports. Nice, Marseille, and Montpellier's airports are also served by frequent flights from Paris and London, and daily connections from Paris arrive at the smaller airports in Avignon and Nîmes.

Flights

Most major airlines fly to Paris and have connecting flights to the South of France on domestic airlines. The one exception is Delta, which flies nonstop to Nice from New York. From the United Kingdom, EasyJet offers inexpensive nonstop service to Nice and Marseille; British Airways has direct flights to Nice and Marseille; low-cost Ryanair flies to Nîmes, Marseille, and Montpellier.

Within France, Air France flies frequently from Paris to Marseille, Nice, Montpellier, and Toulon. EasyJet has flights from both Paris airports to Nice.
