Truffle Hunting at Les Pastras
Truffle Hunting at Les Pastras Review
Ten km (6 miles) south of Bonnieux, Les Pastras is a farm producing the French essentials—olives and oils, truffles, and wine. The engaging Franco-American owners, Johann and Lisa, offer truffle-themed tours in English that provide a "behind the scene look at truffles, filled with stories of successes and sabotage." You'll visit a Provençal truffle plantation; discover how truffles are cultivated; and learn how truffle dogs are trained. Professional hunters will also take you on a quest for France's elusive "black gold." After working up an appetite, sample Champagne and fresh truffles on toast, followed by a truffle burger stuffed with foie gras and bacon (it comes with a side of truffle fries and all the regional wine you care to drink).
