Want to be sprinkled by magical Provençal pixie dust? Head to this 18th-century stone farmhouse standing all alone in the lavender-scented countryside outside Gordes. Past the well in the courtyard and the swimming pool in the garden, down cobbled walkways, set into adorable nooks (one was the goats' stable—its hayloft is now on view in the dining room), you'll find the guest rooms, each with its own private entrance. Some have lovely accents, such as the large medieval fireplace in the room called La Cuisine. A few have wood-beam ceilings; decor runs to modern wood beds, pretty prints, and secondhand finds. What more could you want? How about roast guinea fowl in saffron and ginger and an icy bottle of local rosé? The family chef will be glad to serve you by the poolside terrace, but reserve ahead; the restaurant (closed Thursday) is as popular as the hotel.
