Occupying the former army-supply depot behind Palais des Papes—note the carefully preserved industrial decay—an urban-chic entertainment complex combines an international cinema, a bar, and this popular bistro. Long known as Le Grand Café, it had a midlife crisis in 2013 and renamed itself Restaurant Manutention. Gigantic 18th-century mirrors and dance-festival posters hang against crumbling plaster and brick, and votive candles half-light the raw metal framework—an
inspiring environment for passionate talks over Mediterranean fare, such as sautéed beef or giant shrimps.
