With all the summer people, food shops and traiteurs (take-out caterers) do big business in St-Rémy. Olive oils are sold like fine old wines, and the breads heaped in boulangerie windows are as knobby and rough-hewn as they should be. The best food shops are concentrated in the Vieille Ville. Local goat cheeses are displayed like jewels and wrapped like fine pastries at La Cave aux Fromages.
