Musée de la Marine et de l'Economie de Marseille (Marine and Economy Museum) Review

Inaugurated by Napoléon III in 1860, this impressive building houses the museum as well as the city's Chamber of Commerce. The front entrance and hallway are lined with medallions celebrating the ports of the world with which the city has traded, or trades still. Exhibits chart the maritime history of Marseille from the 17th century onward with paintings, engravings and more. Model lovers will adore the hundreds of steamboats and schooners, all in miniature.
