Fodor's Review:

If you close your eyes and think of the perfect Provençal hotel, the chances are you'll conjure up Le Pigonnet. A picture-perfect mas-mansion, this Shangri-la comes replete with a typically and elegantly French estate park and vistas that would please any artist—Cézanne himself painted Ste-Victoire from the garden terrace here. What he would have made of all the suave luxury now on view one can only wonder, for this is the sort of place now patronized by the likes of Princess Caroline, Iggy Pop, and Clint Eastwood. If you don't mind your Provence glossed up, you'll love the spacious light-filled rooms adorned with plush rugs, beautifully preserved antique furniture, and impressive marble bathrooms; Small, artfully placed balconies look out over the extensive formal gardens. The restaurant's terrace spills out onto this sculpted green; inside, the main dining room—lined with picture windows and topped by a series of filigreed chandeliers—is a glittering, gilded concoction almost more delicious than the inspired creations of chef Philippe Sorrel: duck roasted with a pepper and honey sauce, regional lamb with creamed garlic, or the simply grilled sea bass with fresh herbs (deftly complemented with a great Provençal wine list). So if you want to see the beauty of Provence distilled in one magical retreat, save your pennies for this one.

There were no high priced rooms available so we opted for the cheapest they had. It was July. But still. Surely they can do better. Dark grim poky little flock papered dungeons overlooking the car park with cheap fittings. Like staying in a 50 euros french B&B. The gardens here are beautiful, but fodors neglect to tell you that there is a four lane highway running directly beside these beautiful gardens. The traffic thunders past all day. The dinner was OK, but not exceptional. The decor down in the communal parts is ham fisted and truly shocking. So kitsch. Strange wax work dolls and small still lifes of straw and violins. Looked like a serial killers horror museum. The fittings throughout are cheap and nasty. Most of the staff terrible. We had to carry our bags. Don't bother.
