La Chassagnette

La Chassagnette Review

Sophisticated yet down-home comfortable, this restaurant is the fashionable address in the area (14 km south of Arles). Reputedly the only registered "organic" restaurant in Provence, this spot is fetchingly designed and has a dining area that extends outdoors, where large family-style picnic tables can be found under a wooden-slate canopy overlooking the extensive gardens. The menu is based on Camarguais "tapas"—you might hit as many as 30 tapas tastes in one meal. Using ingredients that are grown right on the property, innovative master chef Armand Arnal—who has been awarded a Michelin star—serves up open-rotisserie-style prix-fixe menus that are a refreshing mix of modern and classic French-country cuisine. Try the braised sea bream and a glass of eco-certified wine.
