Brasserie Les Deux Garçons

Brasserie Les Deux Garçons Review

Cézanne and Émile Zola used to chow down here back when, so who cares if the food is rather ordinary. Eating isn't what you came for. Instead, revel in the exquisite gold-ivory style Consulate decor, which dates from the restaurant's founding in 1792. It's not so hard to picture the greats—Mistinguett, Churchill, Sartre, Picasso, Delon, Belmondo, and Cocteau—enjoying their demitasse under these mirrors. Better, savor the linen-decked sidewalk tables that look out to the Cours Mirabeau, the fresh flowers, and the white-swathed waiters serving espressos in tiny gilt-edge cups. In winter at night the upstairs turns into a cozy, dimly lit piano bar buzzing with an interesting mix of local jazz lovers, tourists, and students.
