Fodor's Review

Delve deep into this romantic valley to find this fabulous hideaway, at the foot of an imposing white-rock cliff, where the dortoires (shared public bunk rooms) and simple tile-and-stucco rooms make it a terrific retreat for families, hikers, and rock-climbers. Better yet, meals at the restaurant are several cuts above summer-camp chow. As the owner is passionately Provençal, he insists on fresh regional food. This is where the French come for reunions and weekends with friends, to lounge in lawn chairs or dip in the stream-fed swimming pool. In high season, make a dining reservation ahead of time. Half-board is mandatory for overnight stays.
