By Taxi

On weekend nights after 11 PM it's nearly impossible to find a free taxi -- you are best off asking hotel or restaurant staff to call you one, but, be forewarned: you will have to pay for them to come get you and, depending on where they are, the fare can quickly add up. If you want to hail a cab on your own, look for the taxis with their signs lit up (their signs will be glowing white as opposed to the taxis that are already taken whose signs will be a dull orange). There are taxi stands on almost every major street corner but again, expect a wait if it is a busy weekend night.

Taxi stands are marked by a square dark blue sign with a white T in the middle. Daytime rates, denoted A (7 AM-7 PM), within Paris are EUR .77 per km ( 1/2 mi), and nighttime rates, B, are EUR 1.09 per km. Suburban zones and airports, C, are EUR 1.31 per km. There is a basic hire charge of EUR 2 for all rides, a EUR 1 supplement per piece of luggage, and a EUR .75 supplement if you're picked up at an SNCF station. Waiting time is charged at EUR 25.90 per hour.
