Christian Dior installed the flamboyant and preternaturally talented John Galliano in 1997 and embarked on a wild ride to fashion's highest pinnacle before the designer's infamous crash landing in 2011. The forward-thinking house waited more than a year before making a huge—and fortuitous—leap of faith, tapping Raf Simons (lately of Jill Sander) to man the helm in 2012. Simons' steadfast vision and clean, elegant lines have so far elated the fashion press and breathed new life into the revered house.
