La Régalade

$$$, Bistro, Montparnasse

Fodor's Review:

Bruno Doucet was a brave man to take over what must have been the most celebrated bistro in Paris when it was helmed by chef Yves Camdeborde. After a strong start that impressed the French critics, opinions are now mixed. Some dishes, such as snails en cassolette (in a small dish), are lip-smackingly good, while others, namely the foie gras royale that skimps on the foie gras, fail to live up to the bistro's reputation. Doucet has a solid background and overall a meal here still represents a good value, but La Régalade probably no longer merits a trip across town when there are many other just-as-worthy bistros.
