Wicker furniture and sunny colors warm up this small, simple hotel on a quiet side street between Place d'Italie and the Quartier Latin, not far from the market street Rue Mouffetard. Some rooms overlook a small flower-filled garden, as does the lounge-breakfast room. Jamaican expat Jennifer Poirier runs the Résidence with her French husband, Philippe. Their wholehearted welcome is a big part of this hotel's draw. Pros: close to major métro and bus lines; friendly welcome. Cons: twenty-minute walk to the center of Paris; few amenities; no air-conditioning.
