Hôtel Relais Saint-Sulpice Review

Sandwiched between St-Sulpice and the Jardin du Luxembourg, this little hotel wins accolades for its location. Eclectic art and furnishings, some with an Asian theme, mix with wrought-iron bannisters and ornate molding to reflect the district's bohemian energy. A zebra-print stuffed armchair sits beside an Art Deco desk, and an African mud cloth hangs above a neo-Roman pillar. The rooms themselves, set around an ivy-clad courtyard, are understated, with Provençal fabrics, carved wooden furnishings, and sisal carpeting. Compact bathrooms have marble vanities and mosaic elements. Downstairs there's a sauna and a glass-roofed breakfast salon. Room 11 has a terrific view of St-Sulpice.

    Just short of PERFECT!

This was our second stay at this hotel. This time we came for 10 days, over Christmas with our 14 year-old son. Everything was wonderful. The service was fantastic, the rooms were beautiful and newly redecorated. The location is perfect - close to everything cool. The concierge made fantastic reservations for us, one on impossible Christmas Eve. She also bought train tickets to Normany on-line. I would not hesitate to stay here, it is almost perfect. The only downside is that for some mysterious reason there are no dressers and the closet space is very minimal. And I mean very. I had forgotten. We got along okay by tripling up on hange. In our room we were lucky to have a closet to hang a coat and a dress. Our son did not, but since he doesn't wear dresses this wasn't a problem. Note to owners: switch useless desk for dresser! Note to guests: bring your own hair dryer. Other than that, you will be in 7th heaven at this very tasteful hotel.
