Marie de Medici's gracious palace, built in 1615, is now home to the French Senate and this small museum, which stages prestigious (and crowded) temporary exhibitions. The curators are free spirits; there may be a show on old Italian masters, or a tribute to a forgotten French fauvist, or a double-bill featuring Miró and Warhol. There's information in English as well as audioguides. The extended hours are convenient and advance tickets (available online for a EUR 1 surcharge) allow you to cut the line.
