French designer Christian Lacroix personally decorated each of the 17 rooms in this former bakery dating back to the reign of Henri IV. Opened as a hotel in 2005, the historic façade and elegant lobby retain the historic architectural elements, and the lounge, halls, and rooms are an explosion of styles and colors that define Lacroix's fashions: shag carpeting and clay tiles, pink pop-art walls and toile de Jouy fabric, antique furnishings, and contemporary light fixtures. The result is a comfortable, discreet hotel without the flash of its trendy boutique competitors. Pros: unique hotel with historical character and contemporary style in a trendy neighborhood. Cons: the nearest métro station is a few blocks away; rooms have minimal amenities; bar is not open to the public.
