$$$$, République
Fodor's Review:
As the epicenter of Parisian cool migrates eastward, it's no surprise that a design-conscious hotel has followed. On the trendy northern edge of the Marais, this cheeky hotel that dares to call itself a resort combines Austin Powers playfulness with serious 007-inspired gadgetry. A psychedelic elevator zooms guests to ultraviolet-light hallways, where they enter pristine white rooms via fingerprint sensor locks. White shag carpeting, black-slate bathrooms, pop-art furniture, and bedside control panels that change the color of the lighting to keep guests amused -- until it's time for cocktails. Two suites have private terraces with heated, countercurrent pools. Stylish Parisians pack the hotel's vodka bar and sleek restaurant, where a live DJ holds court in the elevated booth.
