Once upon a time Paris shoppers flocked to covered arcades to sate their consumer lust. Of the city's remaining galeries, Vivienne has best survived the fickle winds of fashion. Admire the elegant, well-worn marble mosaics and neoclassical bas-reliefs, which frame shop windows from designers like Gautier alongside quirky individual artisan shops. It's the perfect place to buy gifts, whether you're looking for a vintage cognac glass for your host, searching for a hand-woven French scarf for your mother-in-law, or just browsing to get out of the rain.
