Designer Jean-Philippe Nuel's sleek hotel was one of Paris's first budget design hotels. The daring interior splashes fuchsia on the walls, though rooms are more subdued in cream, chocolate, and chestnut. Clever elements include clear-plastic desk chairs and silver rubber duckies to float in the tubs. The fifth- and sixth-floor rooms facing the street have balconies with chimney-pot views to the west. One of the hotel's two seventh-floor suites has a bathtub right in the bedroom. Pros: free Wi-Fi, coffee/tea-making facilities in the room; in popular nightlife district. Cons: smallish rooms; not within easy walking distance of major tourist sights.
