Fodor's Review

One of the few remnants of Les Halles's raucous all-night past is this brasserie, which has been open every day since 1946. Now run by the Frères Blanc group, it still draws both a French and a foreign crowd with round-the-clock hours and trademark traditional fare such as seafood platters, breaded pigs' trotters, beer-braised pork knuckle with sauerkraut, and cheese-crusted onion soup. It's perfect stick-to-your-rib fare for a winter's day or to finish off a bar crawl.

The dining room, with its white tablecloths and little piggy details, feels resolutely cheerful, and it's open 24/7.

LATE NIGHT SNACKS

Only go if you have been out all night and need a food fix, otherwise there are much better choices in the area for real food.

Good Value

I was a little disappointed in this place. But overall, I consider it a good value. I had the steak frites which were good but not great. I love great frites! These were a little disappointing but good considering the price. My wife had an oyster platter. This was about a dozen different types of oysters and was expensive. If you are looking for a popular place with good value food and decent atmosphere. This is the place.

A very pleasant evening.

The onion soup was as good as advertised, though it was a very big bowl. Our main courses were very good, and the service was very friendly. A very nice meal for this class of restaurant.

Great late... after eight!

Great spot late at night for oysters and wine and people watching. Don't go there for a quiet, romantic tete a tete. But if you're hungry, running out of money and tired of pointing at entrees on the menu (the waiters speak several languages), this is the place in this area. I appreciated our waiter telling us to put our camera and stuff on the floor under our table when we were sitting on the outer edge of the terrace beside a very busy and distracting

passage. The wine may be expensive, but then this is not the place to order expensive wine...have a great beer instead.
