Tapestries have been woven on this spot in southeastern Paris, on the banks of the long-covered Bièvre River, since 1662. Guided tours combine historical explanation with the chance to admire both old tapestries and today's weavers at work in their airy workshops. To get here from the Place de la Contrescarpe, go south on Rue Mouffetard and continue down Rue de Bazeilles, which becomes Avenue des Gobelins (about a 15-minute walk). Call ahead to check that the guide on duty speaks English.
