Museums / Galleries, Trocadéro/Tour Eiffel
Fodor's Review:
This honey-color Art Deco cultural center was built in the 1930s to replace a Moorish-style building constructed for the World Exhibition of 1878. It contains the Institut Français d'Architecture; the Chaillot School, which trains architects as restorers; and three large museums: the Musée de l'Homme, the Musée de la Marine, and the new Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine. The latter two are worth visiting but the only reason to visit the first is for its café. The garden leading to the Seine has sculptures and dramatic fountains and is the focus for fireworks demonstrations on Bastille Day. The palace terrace, flanked by gilded statuettes offers a wonderful picture-postcard view of the Tour Eiffel.
