Not to be confused with the upscale hotel of the same name near the Champs-Élysées, this Latin Quarter Marignan lies squarely between budget-basic and youth hostel (no TVs or elevator) and offers lots of communal conveniences—a fully stocked kitchen, free laundry machines, and copious tourist information. Paul Keniger, the energetic third-generation owner, has cultivated a convivial atmosphere for independent international travelers. Recently renovated rooms are modest
(some sleep four or five) but generally large, and bathrooms are clean. It's a good choice for families. The least expensive rooms share toilets and/or showers.

We stayed at the Hotel Marignan for 5 days in June, 2010, and I must say it was a great disipointment. The room was dirty. Layers of old dust and dirt were extensive under the beds, and behind furniture. The pillows, which were wrapped in a sheet instead of in a pillow case were old and stained. The matresses weren't much better. The furniture in the room was run down and had broken pieces missing. The kitchen, which is advertised as for guest
to use, is run down and needing repair and restoration. Some staff members were polite, but others were impatient and unfriendly. The price at the Hotel Marignan is very good for its location, but I felt a general lack of pride in the overall up keep of the hotel and the staff's attude. With a little new furniture, more attention to housekeeping, and a customer service oriented attatude, the Hotel Marignan could be a shining star, instead of a dud.

Great historic hotel ain the ideal location for exploring. On a quiet street and the hosts were most gracious. Would definitely stay with them again!

Hotel Marignan was fabulous all around. It has great service, comfortable rooms, amazing breakfasts, AND a laundry room. The location of the hotel pays for itself the very first day, about 1 & 1/2 blocks from Notre Dame. All of the staff speak English extremly well. Signs in the Lobby are available to advise you how to get to various destinations and even how much train tickets will cost to get there. If you are looking for an amazing hotel, choose
Hotel Marignan. We did, and we will never regret it.
