Fodor's Review:
Live a Belle Epoque fantasy by dining beneath the chestnut trees on the terrace of this fanciful landmark pavillon in the Bois de Boulogne. Among the winning dishes that have appeared on chef Frédéric Anton's menu are spit-roasted squab in a caramelized sauce, sweetbreads with morels and asparagus tips, and roasted pear on a waffle with bergamot ice cream. For a taste of the good life at a (relatively) gentle price, order the EUR 60 lunch menu and soak up the opulent surroundings along with service that's as polished as the silverware.

As a new member of the exclusive Michelin Three Star Club, Le Pre Catelan is in that halcyon period where restaurants are still eager to please. It's situated in the middle of a gorgeous building in the Bois de Boulogne. The food is as good, creative, and wonderful as any you'll get anywhere in Europe. The moelle (bone marrow with mushrooms and peas) and estrille (crab) specialty entrees, and the ris de veau and turbot main courses were spectacular. And the apple "space pod" dessert is one of the most delighfully bizarre things I've ever eaten. It's a green hard-sugar shell sphere with a foil candy top enclosing a diaphanous light apple custard with a hint of pop-rock crackles inside (yes-- those bizzare candies that were popular in the 1980s). The service is fabulous. Our waiter informed the sommelier what we were eating and sent him over with VERY reasonable wine recommendations. For a spectacular meal in Paris, if you're prepared to pay for the best, you'll get it here
