Ferry and Eurotunnel Travel

A number of companies sail between the United Kingdom and ports in Normandy. Brittany Ferries travels from Portsmouth to Le Havre, Caen, and Cherbourg year-round; its vessels run from Poole to Cherbourg as well. Daily ferries operated by LD lines connect Newhaven with Dieppe, and Dover with Calais or Dunkirk. The quickest crossing—a four-hour voyage between Newhaven and Dieppe—costs about €100 for a car and two passengers. If you’d rather travel under the Channel than on it, you can drive your car or motorcycle onto a Eurotunnel train at Folkestone for the 35-minute trip to Calais.
