Fodor's Review:

With walls plastered with photographs of illustrious guests, Mont-St-Michel's most famous hostelry can be tough to book, thanks to its historic restaurant, birthplace of Mère Poulard's legendary soufflélike omelet. Chef Michel Bruneau—who established his own restaurant in Caen—also offers an array of tempting Norman dishes (reservations are essential in summer). Set in adjoining houses, the hotel itself is linked by three steep and narrow stairways. Room prices start low but ratchet upward according to size; the smallest rooms are bearable for an overnight stay, not longer. You are usually requested to book two meals with the room. The hotel's location, right by the main gateway, is most convenient—just don't come expecting any views from atop the Mont.

I have no opinion about the hotel, but the restaurant .... !! What a terrible restaurant for a terribly high price and a horrible service; a true tourist trap. We had the remarkably stupid idea of having a light dinner on April 14, 2009. An omelet with about 2 tablespoons of lobster meat and 1 tablespoon of dry white rice for 48 EU !!!! 3 omelets with a bottle of wine for 174 EU= 233 $ US. You get a much better tasting omelet at McDonalds for pennies ! The service was even worse; the waiter spilled our bottle of wine and to show his remorse he came back with a glass (yes a single glass) of a miscellaneous red wine ! An overall terrible experience. Do yourselves a favor; stay out of it.
