Grand Hôtel du Luxembourg Review

The Luxembourg has small but adequate guest rooms, fully renovated with bland modern furniture but with chic color schemes (all but two face a courtyard garden) and, one of the best restaurants in town. Les Quatre Saisons is set in a bright-red salon, with a seasonal menu and regular favorites like sole with vanilla and regional tripe. Depending on the time of year, choose the honey-roast ham with melted apples, or braised turbot with sage.

The Hotel du Luxembourg is well situated near the center of Bayeux as it is within walking distance of the Cathedral and a number of restaurants. The hotel has been combined with the Hotel Brunville and lost the Best Western from its name. Management has decided to cut corners on staff and upkeep.Unfortunately it is poorly managed with staff from the front desk disappearing even when you are checking in or out and no one around to keep the breakfast buffet stocked. The cozy little bar is not staffed in the evening. The restaurant had a good reputation but now has a one page sheet of copier paper for a menu.
