While this boutique hotel pours on the gloss, the nicer original features of the 1906 mansion—parquet floors, stained-glass windows, impossibly high ceilings—remain to complement the added postmodern touches (think faux-crocodile chairs, silver furniture, shrouded chandeliers, and ersatz-Baroque beds). In addition to the stylish studios, a 430-square-foot apartment offers one double bed and two twins. Although the hotel is on a main road, it's set far enough back so that guest rooms are quiet.
