Each guest room at this hotel in the heart of Megève's pedestrian-only zone has a different theme, from Austrian to English to Haute Savoie; half have a small balcony overlooking the courtyard—an ideal spot for summer breakfasts and evening cocktails. Wood predominates, as does artwork collected from all over Europe. Public areas are comfortable, from the lounge with huge easy chairs to the leather-bound library that doubles as a tearoom and bar. Pros: walking distance from the gondolas up to the ski lifts; handy to the clubby feel of the town of Megève. Cons: in the thick of the crowds in high season; erratic service and upkeep.
