By reassembling a number of Alpine chalets and hay houses brought down from the mountains and decorating rooms with old Savoie furniture (shepherds' tables, sculptured chests, credenzas), Jocelyne and Jean-Louis Sibuet have created a luxury hotel with a delightfully rustic feel. Both a summer and winter resort, it has shuttle-bus service to ski lifts in season and a spa providing a wide range of services in this most tranquil of settings. In the kitchen, chef Christophe Côte creates fine cuisine based on local products. Pros: ultra-comfortable quarters in authentic Alpine chalets; beautiful taste down to smallest detail; top Megève cuisine. Cons: somewhat isolated in a village within a town; shuttle or car necessary to get to ski lifts.

Compared with other world-class resorts we have stayed at (French Polynesia, NY, Park City, Zermatt, London…) it is hard to find justification for the price level of the room. We stayed at the best room in the house and had constant noise, woke up to smells from the kitchen in the morning, had a broken bed and chair. The shower was terrible, most of the time there was no hot water and several times we got sulfuric water. The spa is the worst we have ever used (and we have been to over 40 different spas).
