Ste-Marie de la Tourette

Fodor's Review:

"Create a silent dwelling for one hundred bodies and one hundred hearts" was the assignment delivered to Le Corbusier by the local cleric. If you love modern architecture, don't miss Éveux, outside L'Arbresle. Here the stark, blocky Dominican convent of Ste-Marie de la Tourette protrudes over the hillside, resting on slender pillars that look like stilts and revealing the minimalist sensibilities of architect Le Corbusier, who designed it in 1957-59.
