In the peaceful, luxurious Botanical Garden are remnants of the once-huge Amphithéâtre des Trois Gauls (Three Gauls Amphitheater), built in AD 19.

Les Jardins des Plantes is not where the guide book says it is (it was in 1807!). It is now in Parc de la Tete d'Or. We didn't end up seeing it, but I am sure it is lovely!
