This modest hotel, the town's oldest, at the edge of old Grenoble on a corner of Place Grenette, is handy for its central location. As it's an easy walk from the river, the Jardin de Ville, and the city museums, once you're ensconced here, you're set to explore the town. Rooms are adequate and the staff is helpful. Pros: location at Grenoble's nerve center; good value; the feel of old Grenoble. Cons: very small rooms; minimal comforts such as plump pillows; tiny towels.
