Grandes Écuries (Grand Stables)

Updated 03/17/2014

Fodor's Review

The beautiful Grandes Écuries, built in the 17th century for Louis XIV's royal cavalry, house the Musée des Carrosses (Carriage Museum) and the Academy of Equestrian Arts. At the latter you can watch 28 white horses and their riders perform balletic feats of virtuosic skill and grace in a show directed by Bartabas, France's foremost horse whisperer and the founder of the renowned Zingaro Equestrian Theater. Fodor's Travel Talk Forum readers rave about it.

If you can't make the show, you can still see them practicing many mornings.
