Following the departure of chef Laurent Tarridec, who made this address one of the most celebrated in town, the former Bistrot des Lices has lowered its culinary aspirations. Now a "brasserie-lounge bar," it serves comfort cooking at lunch (think roast chicken with truffled potato mash) and salads or open-faced sandwiches all day long -- try the classic Caesar or the Chinese salad with greens, cashews, and chicken. Prices are more than acceptable considering the chic setting -- leather chairs, a cushion-strewn banquette and appropriately large mirrors, all lit by a giant chandelier -- and amazing people-watching potential of the terrace on the leafy Place des Lices.
