Hôtel d'Angleterre Review

Guests at this stylish spot in central Châlons can enjoy well-appointed rooms (think modern furniture, marble bathrooms, and either wooden floors or plush carpets) along with outstanding dining options. The rooms in the back are quietest, while those on the upper floor have the most atmosphere. In the stellar restaurant, with its starched white tablecloths (closed Sunday; no lunch Monday or Saturday), chef Jacky Michel's creations include a salad of freshly-caught scallops with an oyster infused dressing, as well as seasonal desserts like pear millefeuille with crème de marrons (a chestnut conserve). Cheaper fare is offered in the brasserie, Les Temps Changent. Breakfast is a superb buffet.
