In Vieux Troyes's former mint, a topsy-turvy 16th-century building, this bargain hotel has a quaint inner courtyard with large vines, a philodendron, and refurbished rooms with iron bedsteads. Ask for the largest room, on the second floor, one of the few with its own bath. The two couples who co-manage, the Guibourets and the Picards, are friendly folks. Pros: good value; old-fashioned charm; central location. Cons: bathrooms are a bit spartan and most are shared; no air-conditioning.
