An idyllically elegant and gracious country manor, this Relais & Châteaux property, smartly run by Jean-Louis and Susanne Bottigliero, gleams with light from its large picture windows. The cuisine, under chef Vincent Maillard, who previously worked at the Carlton in Cannes and the Louis XV in Monaco, is of the highest standard. The lodgings in the modern annex overlooking the landscaped garden are the most up-to-date. Meals are occasions to be savored, but they are also expensive; prix-fixe menus begin at EUR 65 and may spotlight duck with foie gras and truffles or langoustines with mustard vinaigrette. The bistro offers more reasonably priced menus at EUR 28 and EUR 32, but is only open for lunch weekdays. Pros: lovely, spacious rooms; personable staff; great food. Cons: pricey; no elevator.
