This idyllic Relais & Châteaux property—a gracious country manor, smartly run by Jean-Louis and Susanne Bottigliero—enchants on many levels, from its unique fleur-de-lys topiary to its superb restaurant to its wood-beam cathedral guest rooms. The lodgings in a modern annex overlooking the landscaped garden are the most up-to-date. Cuisine, under Chef Philippe Augé, is of the highest standard and has earned the restaurant a Michelin star. Meals are occasions to
be savored; prix-fixe menus may include scallops served with pumpkin and seaweed butter, or suckling pig cooked in a truffle crust. A bistro offering more reasonably priced menus is open daily for lunch, and on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings for dinner.

This is graceful Relais and Chateau accommodation set in beautiful grounds and a building with character. We arrived in time to lunch to find they've opened a new al fresco bistro with sumptuous food. And dinner was a delight, with superb langoustine, truffles, fish and lamb. 10 out of 10 for the very amiable owners Jean-Louis and Susanne Bottigliero. Jean-Louis is the former CEO of Relais and Chateau in France. His personal touch extends from
carrying the bags himself, to running an extensive operation. Hostellerie de Levernois is the perfect base to explore the beautiful Burgundy region. I have travelled to many countries and beautiful places in Europe, and this is among the very best. Hostellerie de Levernois will forever be in my heart, and one would hope that some of the other sniffy Relais and Chateau properties learn about good manners from Jean-Louis Bottigliero.
