Musée St-Loup

Musée St-Loup Review

The former 18th-century abbey of St-Loup to the side of the cathedral now houses this arts and antiquities museum, which has a superlative collection of old-master paintings. Works from the 15th to the 19th century include paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony Van Dyck, Antoine Watteau, François Boucher, and Jacques-Louis David. Other exhibits are devoted to natural history, with impressive collections of birds and meteorites; local archaeological finds, especially gold-mounted 5th-century jewelry and a Gallo-Roman bronze statue of Apollo; and medieval statuary and gargoyles.
