Getting Around

Burgundy, whose northern perimeter begins 75 km (50 mi) from Paris, is one of the largest regions in France. It's sliced in half by the north-south A6. (As all roads lead to Paris, it's generally quicker to move in this direction than from west to east or vice versa.) But a vast network of secondary roads makes travel from city to city or even village to village both practical and picturesque.

While the area has a highly advanced network of roads, its public trains and buses do not have a wide network—you'll have to plan accordingly when visiting some notable villages or historic sites.
