Getting Here and Around

As the administrative capital of Burgundy, Dijon has most everything a city has to offer, including fast train service. There are 15 TGV trains leaving Paris daily and 12 on weekends (€40.20), so getting to Dijon by train is perhaps the most efficient way of arriving on Burgundy's doorstep. Once here, the extensive TER network (Express Regional Transport) can take you almost anywhere within the region, with frequent connections to Sens (€28.10), Nevers (€29.50), Beaune (€7), and Auxerre (€25.60). Right next to the Dijon Ville train station is the Gare Routière from which the regional TRANSCO (08-00-10-20-04www.cotedor.fr) bus company operates 32 regular shared school/public bus routes that crisscross the Côte d'Or. For wine lovers the No. 44 (Dijon-Beaune) represents the logical choice, with an itinerary that reads like an oenologist's wish list. The 12:25 pm will get you to the cellar(s) of your choice in time for an early afternoon tasting. Price is based on the number of sections traveled, and at €1.50 per section the trip to Beaune will cost you €3.
