There are many bus routes linking Brittany, serviced by a bewildering number of bus companies. As the region is well served by train, you do not really need to bother with buses unless you're visiting places not covered in this book. However, a handful of towns cannot be reached by train. These include Carnac (90 mins) and Quiberon (2 hrs), reachable on a Cariane Atlantique bus from Vannes; Dinard (30 mins) with an Ile & Vilaine bus from St-Malo; and Cancale (40 mins, EUR 2), also from St-Malo but with Les Courriers Bretons, which also runs buses between St-Malo and Mont-St-Michel (1 hr, 50 mins via Dol, EUR 4.50) and between Rennes and Mont-St-Michel (80 mins, EUR 10.30). Pont-Aven can be reached from Quimper via Transports Caoudal. There are many other links, so, as always, check in with the regional tourist office or information window at a big gateway rail or bus station to get printed bus schedules.
