It may not be the fanciest restaurant in Nantes, but Les Chants d'Avril is where the locals go for affordable "bistronomic" fare. Murals, dark-wood paneling, and leather banquettes lend a warm, traditional look; the attention to market-driven ingredients and interesting wines, however, puts it on par with the best modern bistrôts à vin. Labels aside, dishes like the excellent homemade foie gras, white-peach gazpacho, or lobster consommé speak for themselves.
For dessert, the luscious caramel clafoutis is a must. Although dinner is served on Thursday and Friday, it's best to come at lunch for the three-course menu—a great deal at €22.
