Overlooking a sweeping 250-acre estate, this 19th-century mansion offers a grand refuge, with 22 guest rooms adorned with damask wallpapers, elegant antiques, marble fireplaces, and plenty of crystal and porcelain, along with stunning views over water and lush gardens. On the main floor, four stately salons remain exactly as they were when the family—who still maintains the hotel—lived here. According to local legend, Saint Guénolé (from whom the château takes its name) took refuge on this scenic spot while fleeing the devil. Nowadays, guests can indulge in more worldly delights, particularly the superb gourmet meals that can be enjoyed on several outdoor terraces, although the candlelit, tapestried, and Michelin-starred dining room is hard to beat.
