Getting Here and Around

TGV Est European. The jewel in Lorraine's tourism crown, Nancy, has benefited greatly from the introduction of the record-breaking TGV Est European with 10 direct TGVs daily (one leaving almost every hour) from Paris's Gare de l'Est, 7:13 am to 8:13 pm, all making the run in 90 minutes. Three others (8:40 am, 10:40 am, and 8:40 pm) take an hour longer and involve a change in Metz. One-way fares vary from €22 to €66 depending on the train type, time of day, and the amount of time in advance one books. www.tgv.com/en.

train station. Nancy's train station, a 15-minute walk down Rue Stanislas from the town center, is open 5:30 am to 11:30 pm (6:30 am to 11:30 pm Sundays and holidays). Nine direct trains to Strasbourg (€23.40) leave from Nancy each day at intervals varying from 45 minutes to two hours, and roughly every 10 minutes a train leaves for Metz (€10.10). There are 12 (approximately every 45 minutes) daily TER services to Luneville (€6.60). 3 pl. Thiers, Nancy, 54000.
