Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel & Spa Review

Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, this luxurious country-house hotel sits near the River Wharfe, an easy walk from Bolton Abbey. Guest rooms with a contemporary style are in a new wing, while others with a more traditional outlook, including several with four-posters, are in the old house. These are tastefully decorated with antiques and memorabilia from Chatsworth House, the family estate in Derbyshire. Downstairs, the elegant Burlington restaurant has earned numerous awards. Its fixed-price menu (£65) uses game and fish from the estate. The brasserie serves more modestly priced fare. There's a lovely spa in a 17th century barn with an indoor swimming pool where you can work off that dinner.
