Combe House Review

Rolling parkland surrounds this luxurious Elizabethan manor house 16 miles east of Exeter. From the imposing Great Hall, with its huge, open fireplace, to the spacious, individually decorated bedrooms, the emphasis is on country-house style that unites antiques and modern comfort. The fixed-price restaurant prepares such dishes as roast loin of venison with smoked mashed potatoes and braised red cabbage. You can fish on a 1½-mile stretch of the River Otter and explore nearby Gittisham, once described as "the ideal English village" by Prince Charles.
