Bodmin
Bodmin was the only Cornish town recorded in the 11th-century Domesday Book, William the Conqueror's census. During World War I the Domesday Book and the Crown Jewels were sent to Bodmin Prison for safekeeping. From the Gilbert Memorial on Beacon Hill, you can see both of Cornwall's coasts. Lanhydrock, a stately home, is also near Bodmin.
