Gilbey's Eton Review
Just over the bridge from Windsor, this restaurant at the center of Eton's Antiques Row serves a changing menu of imaginative fare, from quail, mushroom and pistachio rillettes with pickled rhubarb to mustard crust lamb with black-eyed beans and shallots. The £19.50 lunch and early-dinner menu is a good deal. Well-priced wines, both French and from their own English vineyard are a specialty, as are the savories—think meat, fish, and vegetarian pâtés—and scrumptious cakes served with afternoon tea on weekends. The conservatory, with its colorful scattering of cushions, is a pleasant place to sit, as is the courtyard garden.
